Visas D2, D7 and D8 to live in Portugal

Portugal remains one of the most popular destinations for Brazilians, but the rules have changed. Since October 2025, it is no longer possible to enter as a tourist and regularize one's status in the country, and family reunification has become stricter. Today, planning starts before departure, with the right visa and flawless documentation. Our team handles the entire process with security and clarity.

D2 Visa: Entrepreneurs and Independent Professionals

For those who wish to start a company, invest in a business or work as an independent professional in Portugal.

  • Incorporation of a company or investment in an existing business
  • Work as a self-employed professional or independent service provider
  • Requires a solid business plan and proof of economic viability
  • Proof of means of subsistence in Portugal

D7 Visa: Retirees and Passive Income Holders

For those living on pensions, rental income, dividends, financial investments or other income not derived from work.

  • Minimum income equal to one Portuguese minimum wage per month for the main applicant
  • An additional 50% for a spouse and 30% for each dependent child
  • Funds deposited in a Portuguese bank account
  • Proof of accommodation

D8 Visa: Digital Nomads and Remote Workers

For professionals working remotely for companies or clients outside Portugal.

  • Minimum monthly income of four Portuguese minimum wages (€3,680 in 2026)
  • Income from an employment contract or service agreement with entities abroad
  • Option of residence or temporary stay, depending on the client's plans

Family and Citizenship: Plan from the Start

  • Family reunification: as a rule, requires two years of residence by the main applicant, with exceptions for minor children and other cases provided by law. We therefore assess from the outset whether the family should apply together or later
  • Portuguese citizenship by residence: the new Nationality Law, in force since May 2026, requires 7 years of legal residence for Brazilians, counted from the issuance of the residence permit
  • Citizenship by descent: if you are the child or grandchild of a Portuguese citizen, you may be able to obtain citizenship without living in Portugal. We assess this option before any visa
